Every cashback purchase starts with an activation: tapping the merchant link in the ShopBack app, site, or browser extension. That click opens a tracked session, sometimes called a shopping trip, that tells the merchant the visit came from ShopBack.
If the shopper leaves the merchant site and comes back later without clicking through ShopBack again, the new session may not be tracked. Reactivating before checkout keeps attribution intact.
