A cashback browser extension is a small program that lives in the browser toolbar and watches for the moment the browser lands on a store where cashback is available. It exists to solve one specific problem: the most common reason cashback goes unearned is that the shopper went straight to the retailer and forgot to start the trip at the cashback platform first.
The ShopBack browser extension is a free add-on for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. It detects when the browser is on a participating merchant site and prompts a one-click activation, replacing the need to open shopback.com in a separate tab. At checkout it can test available promo codes automatically, and because the extension handles activation in the same tab, cashback stacks on top of those discounts rather than competing with them.
The permission the extension asks for, the ability to see which sites you visit while it is enabled, is the honest cost of knowing when you are on a store that offers cashback. It is the same grant coupon tools, password managers, and ad blockers request.
